Facebook COO on Women, Work, and the Will to Lead

Sheryl Sandberg says that, despite efforts over decades to achieve gender parity, women continue to have disadvantages in society and the workplace.

Sandberg’s stop in Chicago was one of several in a nationwide tour to promote her book, “Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead.” The Chief Operations Officer of Facebook spoke for about an hour, to a mostly female audience, and touched on several topics including mentorship, marriage, and motherhood.

In this 10-minute video excerpt of her inspiring talk, Sandberg discusses what she calls the ambition gap, the negative correlation between likeability and success for women, displaying human emotions in the workplace (crying); and finding the courage to do that which one fears most. ❒
