How Match CEO Sam Yagan Built His First Company

Years before Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, created a business from his dorm room at Harvard,  Sam Yagan, serial entrepreneur and current CEO of online dating site, Match, had done exactly the same thing.

With the help of two dorm mates, Yagan created Sparknotes ― an online study guide. Within 18 months, Sparknotes had eclipsed CliffsNotes, the dominant study guide at the time, founded by Cliff Hilegass in 1958.

Here, in an interview at SeedCon 2012 with University of Chicago Booth School entrepreneurship professor, Steve Kaplan, Yagan tells us how it all began. ❒
