Sprout Social, a local startup located in the West Loop which delivers intuitive social media management tools, was the chosen venue for Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s announcement of a new council called “ChicagoNext”.
The forward-looking term aptly describes the city’s strategy to grow its startup tech community in an effort to prevent migrations of local innovations and talent to the coasts.
J.B Pritzker, a managing partner of the Pritzker Group and committee member of World Business Chicago (WBC), will lead the effort along with committee co-chairs , Eric Lefkofsky, Jeff Aronin and Pat Ryan, Jr.
“The Council will lead an innovative and aggressive effort to bring new opportunities to the area and shape the city’s business landscape for generations,” says Pritzker.
Their responsibilities include attracting new tech talent, reaching out to the global business community, and increasing the pool of available investor dollars in Chicago. ❒
